Anxiety can really take over your life, apart from being a deeply unpleasant feeling it limits decision making and keeps you ‘stuck’ inside its loop.
A combination of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and Hypnotherapy is recommended for anxiety. For severe and/or long term anxiety medication along side talking therapy can be extremely helpful.
Hypnotherapy enables calmer, kinder thoughts to occur, teaching you to become your ‘own best friend’ rather than listening and absorbing the old ‘critical inner voice’.
Often it can be helpful to examine the cause of the anxiety, for instance past events or negative belief systems i.e imposter syndrome or feeling not good
enough.
Hypnotherapy techniques include positive suggestions, regression, progression and imagery.
Havering techniques can be used to reduce anxiety, this therapy incorporates distraction, touch, and eye movements and can reduce anxiety associated with negative memories.
CBT is a practical forward facing therapy, by this I mean it doesn’t focus much on the past.
CBT enables you to recognise the thought processes that trigger your anxiety, this recognition ‘shines a light’ on these often repetitive and inaccurate thoughts, by doing so you can alter and dislodge these negative ‘thought spirals’ creating new, less anxiety producing ways of thinking.
CBT focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes effect your feelings and behaviours, it teaches you coping skills and techniques to reduce your anxiety.
The number sessions required vary depending on the severity of the anxiety and the commitment of the client. However expect somewhere in the region of 4-8 sessions.
